GR12 Titanium Plate - Premium Corrosion-Resistant Alloy for Industrial Applications

With more than 20 years of production experience, Baoji Jucheng Titanium Industry Co., Ltd., situated in China's Titanium Valley, provides perfectly crafted gr12 titanium plate that meet ASME SB265 and ASTM B265 specifications. Our hot-rolled plates have a minimum tensile strength of 483 MPa and a yield strength of 345 MPa since they are made of the Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni alloy. These plates are very resistant to crevice corrosion in high-temperature, chloride-containing environments. They can be as long as 10,000 mm, as wide as 2500 mm, and as thick as 4 to 80 mm.With an annual inventory of 3,000 tons and a production capability of over 500 pieces of equipment, we provide reliable quality and timely delivery for your large industrial projects.

What Makes GR12 Titanium Plate Unique?

The plate (UNS R53400) is a less expensive alternative to expensive palladium-alloyed grades and commercially pure titanium. The intentional addition of 0.3% molybdenum and 0.8% nickel addresses significant industry concerns.

Where normal Grade 2 titanium fails, this alloy combination stops crevice corrosion in hot brines and reducing acids. Grade 7 palladium alloys are more expensive, yet you still receive improved performance.

Nickel and molybdenum work in concert to enable functioning at temperatures above 150°C and pH values below 4.0. The plate retains outstanding weldability and formability equivalent to CP standards despite its alloy composition.

It offers far more strength at a density of 4.51 g/cm³ while maintaining the lightweight benefit of titanium. Most applications do not require pre- or post-weld heat treatment, so your fabrication processes remain simple.

Key Industrial Applications

Chemical Processing Equipment: Our gr12 titanium plate excels in shell and tube heat exchangers handling hot chlorides and dilute reducing acids. The Mo-Ni alloying prevents crevice corrosion that causes catastrophic failure in standard titanium units.

Marine Desalination Systems: The plate resists corrosive attack in high-temperature brine concentrators and evaporator vessels. You eliminate pitting risks in stagnant flow zones where concentrated hot seawater causes standard materials to fail.

Hydrometallurgical Operations: Applied in high-pressure acid leaching vessel linings, the plate withstands abrasive and corrosive slurry environments. It specifically resists reducing acid attack during mineral extraction processes.

Energy Sector Equipment: Perfect for parts used in the processing of oil and gas that are subjected to harsh media. Long-term dependability under difficult circumstances is ensured by the combination of strength and corrosion resistance

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: In terms of price versus performance, how does Grade 12 titanium plate stack up against Grade 7?

A: Because Grade 12 employs nickel and molybdenum rather of pricey palladium, it is frequently 30–40% less expensive than Grade 7. Grade 12 is the recommended value engineering option since it gives adequate crevice corrosion resistance for the majority of hot brine and moderate acid applications, even if Grade 7 performs somewhat better in pH 0–2 acids.

Q: Is it possible to weld GR12 plates to Grade 2 titanium?

A: For TIG or MIG welding, Grade 12 is compatible with Grade 2. However, we advise using matching ErTi-12 filler wire or higher-alloyed filler to preserve corrosion resistance in the weld zone.

Q: What is these plates' maximum operating temperature?

A: Up to about 315°C (600°F), grade 12 maintains effective structural strength and ASME Code allowables. Creep strength decreases and oxidation rates rise above this temperature.

Q: Is heavy oxide scale common on hot-rolled plates?

A: Hot rolled plates typically have a grey oxide scale. For finished goods, this should be removed via bead blasting and pickling to ensure a clean surface for inspection and maximum corrosion resistance. You should specify 'Descaled and Pickled' surface condition when ordering.

Q: What surface condition should I specify for corrosion-critical applications?

A: For maximum corrosion resistance, request acid-pickled surface treatment. This removes any oxide scale and ensures the protective passive layer forms uniformly across the entire surface.
