A: Gr2 maintains structural stability up to 425°C (800°F). Beyond this threshold, oxidation accelerates and creep strength diminishes, risking material failure.

Q: Can sheet be welded directly to carbon steel?

A: No. Arc welding creates brittle TiFe intermetallic compounds that crack immediately. Use explosion bonding or mechanical fastening instead.

Q: Why is stress relief necessary after cold forming?

A: Heavy forming introduces residual stresses. Heat treatment at 538°C–593°C for 30–60 minutes prevents spring-back and delayed hydride cracking during service.
