Why Choose Our Grade 5 Titanium Round Bar
Materials for your projects must be able to withstand pressure. Our bar has better mechanical integrity and a strength-to-weight ratio that is 60% lighter than steel.
Aerospace-Grade Reliability: Heat-treatable characteristics enable additional strength improvement through aging and solution treatment procedures. Because of this, our bars are perfect for turbine blades, fasteners, and structural airframe parts that can operate at temperatures as high as 400°C.
Medical-Grade Purity: We provide ASTM F136 ELI (Extra Low Interstitial) grade for biomedical applications. It is the gold standard for orthopedic implants and dental posts because its modulus of elasticity is similar to that of human bone.
Marine-Proven Durability: Our bars withstand stress corrosion cracking and localized pitting in subsea settings rich in chloride. In deep-sea oil and gas exploration, they are relied upon for underwater sensors, drive shafts, and riser components.
Precision Manufacturing: We provide h8/h9 tolerance for precision machining or peeling surfaces for general forging applications through our production method, which includes vacuum melting, rotary forging, and centerless grinding.

FAQ
Q: What makes Grade 5 titanium round bar different from Grade 23?
A: There are more stringent oxygen and iron restrictions for the Extra Low Interstitial (ELI) variation, Grade 23. This provides outstanding fracture toughness and ductility for critical medical implants and cryogenic applications where safety cannot be compromised.
Q: Is this alloy hard to machine?
A: Due to weak thermal conductivity and galling tendencies. Sharp carbide tools, low cutting speeds, fast feed rates, and lots of coolant flow are necessary to prevent heat accumulation and work hardening during fabrication.
Q: Is it feasible to weld Grade 5 round bar?
A: Certainly, but to prevent oxygen pickup that causes embrittlement, careful inert gas shielding (helium or argon) is needed. Laser and electron beam (EB) welding are preferred in high-tech manufacturing environments.
Q: What is the maximum temperature at which it can function?
A: Mechanical stability is preserved up to around 400°C (750°F). Because oxidation rates increase and creep properties may degrade beyond this threshold, higher-temperature alloys, like Ti-6242, are required for hostile environments.
Q: What surface finishes are available?
A: We provide Peeled/Turned finishes for common forging applications and Centerless Ground (h8, h9 tolerance) for precision components where fatigue life is crucial. Component longevity under cyclic loading circumstances is directly impacted by surface quality.
